The Beauty of Translation
Some signs are just too good to leave where they are. So wishing to share a good thing I will put a few them on this blog. The first has to be the sign below that hung in the reception to a great hostal in Mancora. It was the only sign in the reception in English and I can well see why this was instruction enough. The poetic owners of La Posada clearly felt it their duty to introduce their guests to the world of nonsense poetry. Forget magical realism I think this new form of literature is about to set the world on fire.

I have to add in one of the quirkier things that we saw as we travelled through the South American mountains. In a land of naked woman pictured in advertising posters for insecticides and chainsaws certain things stand out in my mind. Such as the clock below. Every little detail from the golden pillars, through the plastic golden peacock to the deflated balloons screams of the love and pride that went into making and hanging this little beauty on the wall. No wonder they had to make up a sign informing you that it is a high-class quartz clock.

The Google Language Tool Spanish-to-English translation is strickingly similar!
“this completely prohibited the person enter other people’s to the hotel or who does not esten lodged.”
